Harajuku has been the center of Japan’s most extreme teenage cultures and fashion styles for many decades. Having gained the recognition worldwide, Harajuku has become the place not only for Japanese locals but international tourists to visit, expressing themselves in creative styles without any restrictions.
In the streets of this unique district, Takumaru Isshiki, a graphic designer/art director, took fashion photos of non-Japanese visitors he met there for six years. This rich street portrait collection of his maiden effort introduces more than 3,000 street fashion portraits in a single volume. It shows the expressive aspects of those people in Harajuku, focusing on the spirit of diversity in street fashion.
